SHANKS-PRICE-TERRY BIBLE (Rogersville, Hawkins Co., TN): Part 1

A researcher sent to me a very old family bible with pages in it for marriages, births, etc. The researcher was not sure why or how the Bible had come into the hands of his family but he wondered if I would be interested in it and then share the information found.  The Bible is an old oversize type Bible, a type popular during the 1870's to early 1900's with a few Dore style illustrations. Some pages are beginning to crumble, the publisher information part of the cover sheet is largely missing (so no publisher or date).  There was a section of 4 pages for family records.

Page 1 of the section is of information about the marriage of Thomas Jefferson SHANKS and Elizabeth PRICE.  They married at the home of the bride's father, Isaac PRICE on 3 January 1869. Witnesses were: Henry C. SHANKS. Isaac PRICE and possibly the clergy marrying them, John Altom, Esp.
