BRICKS FALLING FROM A BRICK WALL: ANCESTORS OF WILLIAM HUDSON (C1827-1887), VILLA RIDGE, ILL

Recent DNA results are confirming a link between this man, husband of Emily Jane CAIN HUDSON, father of Louis HUDSON, Millie HUDSON JAMES and step-father of Thomas Benjamin CAIN. He and his family are found on the 1880 Mound City, Pulaski Co., Ill census. He, wife, and son Louis are found on the 1870 census of Evansville, Vanderburgh Co., IND. He and Emily married 1868 in that location. On the 1870 census he said he had been born in England. On the 1880 in Virginia. Emily Jane Cain was the daughter of Louis Cain and Melissa "Millie" Greer Carter Cain Sailes Parker. Prior to that marriage his life is a bit murky but may include a stint aboard a ship or life in Kentucky. It is still unclear.

Recent DNA suggests a relationship (brother? cousin?) of William Hudson , father of Louis Hudson and Millie Hudson James of southern Illinois to a Silas Beverly Hudson b. 1834.  He is a possible child of Thomas B. Hudson and wife Sarah of Culpepper Co., Va, or a relative of one Moses Hudson and wife Lucy of the same location. All share a link to David Hudson Jr., according to DNA information, and to his father David Hudson Sr., son of Ruth Hudson.

David Hudson Jr. of Culpepper Co., VA married Elizabeth Gentry. They had the following presumed children (based on documents and wills, etc.):

Abner Hudson (1777-1869/71). Abner md Elizabeth Mason and had children: John Mason Hudson; Albert G. Hudson; Emily Hudson Willis; Sarah F. Hudson Jeffries; William Oliver Hudson (1828-ca1869, AL), he md Mary E. Chambers and had daughter Aurelia Hudson Ogletree and a son "Jack" (or John) who may have died about the time he and his wife died, leaving daughter in care of mother's father; Thurza Hudson, died young, ca 1826?; Mary Ann Hudson Whitehall ;Elizabeth Hudson Tinsley; Robert Hudson, died infancy; Richard Henry Hudson, d1863. Will and other documents pertaining to this family filed in Perry Co., Alabama.

Ezekiel Hudson (1779-1839, SC); md Mary Mason, d/o John and Sallie Mason.

Joel Hudson (1781-1860)

Ambrose

Martha Agnes Hudson (1784, Va)

Moses Hudson (1786)

David Hudson 3rd? (ca1803)

Thomas B. Hudson (1789-1860?). he married Susan Hudson. They may be the parents of Silas B. Hudson. There were several Silas Hudson's: one the son of a James, one the apparent son of a Moses and Lucy Hudson, and the one associated with Thomas and Susan Hudson. Several names (William, Jesse, Louis/Lewis, Elizabeth, Moses, Martin, etc.crop up in the varied lines).
