TERRY DNA ILLUSTRATED : A POSSIBLE WAY OF LOOKING AT THE TERRY FAMILY GROUPS IN EARLY DAY VIRGINIA

Recent DNA results indicate that the line of Jasper and Mary Morrison Terry, their son Josiah and Mary Lloyd and, possibly a Jasper who married a Margaret (their line DNA still to be proven) were of the Haplogroup of G-02. 

Three sons of Perry Co., IND John Terry (wife Esther Brown) (sons lines tested are Josiah of Onieda, TN; Wm, who died in Missouri wife Barbara Ennis, and John Jr, wife Nancy Ennis, who died in Arkansas), have show a Haplogroup of I-02. 

This means that -if that DNA return is consistent through the other children of John Terry, who is demonstrated through court documents and family records to be a son of Wm and Rachel Terry of Botetourt Co., Va then- these two lines (a) Jasper and Mary Morrison and (b) William and Rachel Terry - are not connected. This is borne out in the tendency of the two groups to cluster into different districts of the county of Botetourt (and Montgomery). 

The Terry-Morrison line cluster around Little River (Creek) branch of the Roanoke, in Capt. Easom's District for tax purposes and Wm and Miles Terry group (with others living with them probably) are repeatedly enumerated in Capt. Neeley's District for tax purposes and tend to be related to the waters of Black Run, a branch of the Roanoke River.ch of the Roanoke.
