PATIENCE COOPER TERRY ,WIFE OF WILLIAM TERY JR.

The Cooper Family lived in Botetourt County, Virginia.  This area would later become Montgomery County, Virginia, by 1800.  James Cooper wrote his Will in 1782.  The Will was probated in 1784.  Following his death, the siblings brought a lawsuit in 1800 before the Montgomery County Court.

The heirs of James Cooper were named and included sons Christopher, John, Sylvanus and William Cooper and daughters, Sarah Cooper the wife of Joseph Cole, Patience Cooper the wife of William Terry, and Catherine Cooper the wife of Joshua Wilson.   In 1796, Christopher Cooper, John Cooper, and William Terry all lived on contiguous farms on Brush Creek of Little River.  In the 1800 Chancery Court record, the brothers Sylvanus and William Cooper were not named.  This possibly indicates they were deceased, or perhaps, had left Virginia by that date.  Source: http://tngenweb.org/greene/families/cooper.htm

The 1810 Census for lists a Washington Cooper in Christianburg, Montgomery Co., Va and some of the Coopers were in Hawkins Co., Tennessee ( a location associated with one or more of the children of John Terry-Esther Brown; my own 4xgrandfather being born there in 1785).  William Terry, husband of Patience, in his 1824 will leaves property to daughters of Washington Cooper. It is believed by some this may be the William and daughters listed above. Or, Washington may be a nephew or other kin of Patience.

A will of Patience Cooper Terry was filed in Floyd Co., Virginia that again mentions Isaac Terry, son of Miles Terry. It was about the time Isaac was himself dying, but he had children, including an Isaac Jr.
