Thomas Plymworth Mortimore Family

THOMAS PLYMWORTH MORTIMORE


He was born in Guilford Co., North Carolina to David Mortimore and wife Hannah Worth Mortimore, 2 October 1803 and died in Sugar Creek, Miami Co., Kansas in 6 Jan 1870 (aged 66).

Known by some lines simply by the name "Plymouth" or 'Plymouth",  he was Thomas Plymworth Mortimore.   He was a Methodist minister (local or ordained) and served in several civic capacities in Wapello Co., Iowa before transferring to eastern Kansas. 

Several family members moved with them from North Carolina to Ohio to Indiana to Iowa and then Kansas.  “Plymworth” is believed to be an archaic term meaning “Of Worth” and indicates his mother’s family. 

He married Patsy Deshil (sometimes referred to as Driskoll - but marriage record of Fayette Co., OH uses 'Deshil') in 5 Nov 1826.   They had six children: William (1827-1900), Elizabeth (1829-1862), David (1832-1905), Eliza Jane (1835-1907), Mary (1837-),Patsey  (1839-)
